The Erase function allows you to wipe the data from any Target drive(s) connected to the duplicator at that time. Note: Drives connected to the Source Port are not formatted.
The Erase options available are:
| Quick Erase | The fastest erase method. The Quick Erase will erase only the partition table, which will make the device appear empty. |
| Full Erase | Full Erase will zero all active sectors on the drive. |
| Secure Erase | Secure Erase uses a three-pass wipe method to thoroughly erase any data on your device and prevents the data from being recoverable. Note: Due to wear leveling technology utilized by most flash memory devices, flash drives may not be securely wiped. Secure Erase should only be run on external HDDs. |
| DoD Erase (Async) | DoD Erase uses a seven-pass wipe method to thoroughly erase any data on your device and prevents the data from being recoverable. This mode is performed only in Async mode only. Note: Due to wear leveling technology utilized by most flash memory devices, flash drives may not be securely wiped. Secure Erase should only be run on external HDDs. |
To Erase the Target drive(s):
1. Power on the duplicator.
2. After the duplicator has fully booted, insert the USB drives that you are looking to format. Note: These drives must be connected only to the Target ports on the duplicator as the Source port will not be used for this function.
3. From the Main Menu press the Up or Down buttons until you see Erase.
4. When Erase is displaying for you, press the ENT button to enter this menu.
5. From here you can use the Up or Down buttons to switch between Quick Erase, Full Erase, Secure Erase, and DoD Erase (Async).
6. After locating the Erase option that you would like to use, press the ENT button to proceed.
Note: If you have all the USB ports on the duplicator full, the duplicator will start the process automatically for you. If however you do not have a USB drive connected to every port you will see a message stating X Detect, Go? (x represents the drives detected) and will need to press ENT to continue
7. After a moment, the Erase process will start.
8. When the process is completed, you will see a standard Pass/Fail prompt with a system of Remove All Devices.
9. When you remove the drive, you will then be prompted to press ENT to continue. At this point, if you have more drives that you would like to use the Erase feature with, you can insert them into the Target ports and press ENT to run the process once again. If at this time you do not wish to run the process again, you can press ESC which will bring you back to the Main Menu.
