The Format function allows you to format connected Target drives in FAT16, FAT32, or exFAT. Note: Drives connected to the Source Port are not formatted.
The Format options available are:
| Quick Format | Removes the address files from the partition table. |
| Full Format | Removes the address files from the partition table and scans for bad sectors. |
To Format the Target drive(s):
1. Power on the duplicator.
2. After the duplicator has fully booted, insert the USB drives that you are looking to format. Note: These drives must be connected only to the Target port on the duplicator as the Source port will not be used for this function.
3. From the Main Menu press the Up or Down buttons until you see Format.
4. When Format is displaying for you, press the ENT button to enter this menu.
5. From here you can use the Up or Down buttons to switch between Quick Format and Full Format.
6. After locating the Format option that you would like to use, press the ENT button.
7. You will be brought to the Select Flash Size menu. This menu option allows you to use the Up and Down buttons to filter drives with incorrect capacity. For example, if you set this to 32GB, then all drives with capacity other than 32GB will fail the format process. By default, it is “Ignore”, which doesn’t do the filter process. Note: Select Flash Size may not be available for firmware released before V.56. To check the current firmware version on your duplicator, please refer to System Info.
8. After locating the flash size you would like to use, press the ENT button to proceed with this process.
9. You will be brought to File System. This menu allows you to use the Up and Down buttons to choose the file system that you would like the Target media formatted to. The duplicator provides the options for FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and Auto. The option “Auto”, we choose the optimized file system depends on the capacity of the Target drives out of the three options FAT16, FAT32, and exFAT. Note: For best results we recommend if choosing Auto that all Target media is of the same capacity.
10. After locating the format you would like to use, press the ENT button to proceed with this process.
Note: If you have all the USB ports on the duplicator full, the duplicator will start the process automatically for you. If however you do not have a USB drive connected to every port you will see a message stating X Detect, Go? (x represents the drives detected) and will need to press ENT to continue
11. After a moment, the Format process will start.
12. When the process is completed, you will see a standard Pass/Fail prompt with a system of Remove All Devices.
13 .When you remove the drive, you will then be prompted to press ENT to continue. At this point, if you have more drives that you would like to use the Format feature with, you can insert them into the Target ports and press ENT to run the process once again. If at this time you do not wish to run the process again, you can press ESC which will bring you back to the Main Menu.
