If you are using the Google Chrome web browser to download one of our applications from our support site, you may see the error, “is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous.” This message appears only as Google does not consider these to be common downloads however there is no need to worry. We check all of our updates and applications that are available for download on a regular basis to verify their validity and health. To continue downloading the updater, click on the arrow that appears next to the error message and then click Keep.
If you have any doubts about the validity of our Defender Update we would encourage you to check the hash of the download. The hash value that we provide can be located within our support site under the title SHA256 Checksum Values and there are utilities to verify these hashes located within the article SHA256 Checksum Utilities.
