If you are connecting a 2.5" bus-powered USB external hard drive to your USB duplicator, the duplicator is unable to provide adequate power through a single USB port. In order to provide the necessary amount of power to the drive you will have to use a Y-type USB cable and connect the drive through 2 USB ports. 1 port will transfer data and power while the second port provides auxiliary power.
The auxiliary USB power connector can be connected either though a port on the USB Duplicator or through a externally powered USB hub. If you choose to connect the auxiliary power connector through the USB Duplicator it will reduce the total number of devices that you can connect to the duplicator.
If connecting bus-powered hard drives causes the duplicator to freeze, power down your USB Duplicator, connect the drives while the unit is powered off and then power the duplicator back on.
